I’ve never bought a hotel before, let alone one that didn’t have any employees. The manager lived onsite and was going to leave as soon as we took over. So how did we hire employees for a business we didn’t even own yet? Honestly I’m not sure but our Manager Kate is awesome and we have a good track record taking care of our team.

Wait so you don’t own the domain?? I knew tons of stuff needed to be fixed before I bought the hotel. It’s kind of what we do! But after we got the keys we uncovered items the previous owners didn’t quite nail down. And things I should have figured out during due diligence.
In any case, we think we have a good understanding of why this hotel was underperforming. In our next post, we’ll show you how we are already taking steps to improve!

I can’t help but be humbled by the momentum and energy we have behind us. We didn`t just survive going independent, we proved small town Iowa hospitality can thrive without a corporate overlord.
